Skiing to the present...

Ok, this is shockingly out of date, so lets hope the memory of the past month is as fresh as it should be.
The ski trip was certainly memorable, mostly for the right reasons! Conditions were fantastic, especially at the beginning of the week and we all revelled in the fresh daily powder.
Was glad of the decision to ski as I felt like I could get the legs working on some of the flat and uphill sections. The speed skating technique didn't quite work to the high standards I was expecting of the feet. But hey, what I lacked in skill I made up in effort and burnt off cement like fondue in double quick time. Mmmm.
Tried to keep stretching during the week, but who does that defore they nonchalantly hit the slopes?!
Didn't lay off the alchohol, but what harm is that going to do me over three months before the race. We're not looking at winning the thing. Remember that.
Glad to have booked in a couple of sessions at the physio and masseur for the following week. Really tight hammies esp. the right leg. Lots of stretching prior to the Half Marathon on the 19th March.
Regular training of 10hrs in weeks leading up to the half.
Day of the Fleet Half Marathon: Stayed with Chris M and family (big thanks). Morning of the race - cold but sunny. Hydrated v. well (the P22 SIS carbo drink is working really well - plenty of energy and no cramp) and just managed to leak into the woods minutes before the gun.
Up to mile 11 all was going really well. Looking at perhaps a 1:30 or 1:35. Then get stabbing pain in outside of left knee. Felt like a nerve or tendon. It started as a slight wobble and a feeling that something wasn't right and it would get worse immanently.
With a mile to go I was jogging with a severe limp and being passed. Stopped and tried to stretch for a minute. Carried on to the line relatively fresh, but swearing with frustration under my breath. Time: 1hr39m.

Next few days legs were sore, but knee pain wore off quickly. Have booked physio to take a look anyway. Maybe a little more running pep would have helped ie. less shock to the system.
This last week has been light so far, but with regular short sessions. Had a good 40min row in the work gym today.
